Questions families ask
Will we get two queen beds or two doubles?
Most of these four-person rooms use two doubles, not queens, so each pair shares a narrower bed. NIZUC describes its Garden View Double as having two queens, although some listings disagree. At the RIU hotels and Iberostar, the same category may also offer a king configuration: explicitly reserve two double beds for all four guests.
Can we add a crib or rollaway instead of sharing beds?
Do not assume an extra bed can be added to a room already occupied by four. Adhara, Bahia Chac Chi and Antillano list no rollaways. Hyatt Ziva accepts rollaway requests, but four-person placement and charges need confirmation. Ixchel charges for available cribs and extra beds; Antillano lists a nightly crib fee. Elsewhere, ask before booking.
How much more does a room for four cost than the cheapest room for two?
For the same night, Antillano, Adhara and Krystal Urban show increases of about 20–24% over their cheapest two-person rooms. NIZUC's increase is about 16%, while Ixchel's is about 49%. These are comparisons within each hotel, not a ranking of total cost. Enter both children's ages when checking availability, particularly for all-inclusive stays.
Which area makes the most sense for a family sharing one room?
Downtown suits lower-cost stays, restaurants and ADO connections, but beach trips require transport. The Hotel Zone suits beachfront resort days; Hyatt Ziva also has shops nearby. Costa Mujeres works best when you expect to stay mostly on-site. Isla Mujeres requires an island transfer, while Riu Palace Riviera Maya is in Playacar near Playa del Carmen, not Cancún.
Which options give us enough space without booking two rooms?
For one shared sleeping room, NIZUC offers 613 indoor square feet, Hyatt Ziva 483 and Krystal Urban 420. Antillano and Adhara are much tighter at roughly 194 and 215 square feet. If separate bedrooms within one suite work for you, Ixchel adds living and dining space plus a kitchenette; it is not a pair of connecting hotel rooms.
