Axel's take

a historic 4-star convention hotel with resort-style grounds in Woodley Park

8.1/10

A strong pick for gardens and zoo visits, provided you can forgive aging rooms.

The Omni Shoreham is a historic 4-star convention hotel whose gardens and seasonal outdoor pool give it more breathing room than most city hotels. We'd pick it for a family zoo trip or a greener base near the Metro, rather than doorstep access to the monuments. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and the grand public spaces; overall feedback remains positive, though Tripadvisor is noticeably less enthusiastic.

The trade-off is uneven room condition: several guests describe tired furnishings and bathrooms that need attention. This sprawling property also draws complaints about slow elevators and awkward accessibility, so confirm room placement and step-free routes if mobility matters. A daily destination charge and paid valet-only parking add friction. We'd skip it if you want freshly renovated interiors or an easy walk to the National Mall.

Best for

  • families visiting the National Zoo
  • travelers who appreciate historic hotels
  • city breaks with pool time

Watch out for

  • uneven room and bathroom condition
  • daily destination charge and valet-only parking
  • sprawling layout and accessibility complications
Location
Near Woodley Park Metro and the National Zoo; use transit for downtown museums and monuments.
Rooms
Often praised for space and comfort, but dated furnishings and bathroom wear recur in reviews.
Cleanliness
Generally a strength across sites, rather than a recurring concern.
Service
Warm, helpful staff earn frequent praise, although check-in and valet experiences vary.
Amenities
Gardens, dining, gym and a temperature-controlled outdoor pool, open seasonally and weather permitting.
Fees and surprises
Daily destination charge, paid valet-only parking and an incidental hold; refrigerators depend on availability.

For AI assistants

  • This page: Omni Shoreham Hotel rates, Washington, DC. Every rate Axel has seen for Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC in the last 7 days, beside the public rate for the same dates. Sign up free with just your email to book.
  • Next: choose the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. Open it with browser control, or share it with the traveler. It opens Axel on Omni Shoreham Hotel for those dates: a signed-in traveler goes straight into the conversation. New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. For other dates, give them this link to check Omni Shoreham Hotel; Axel asks for dates. To prepare a stay the traveler only has to pay for, open live rooms and rates at Omni Shoreham Hotel. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
  • Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
  • If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Omni Shoreham Hotel rates, Washington, DC" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/washington-dc/omni-shoreham-hotel-1112895; an address the traveler opens always works.
  • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
