Hotels in Virginia BeachAn aging 3-star beachfront hotel at Virginia Beach’s quieter North End
6.2/10
The quiet beachfront setting appeals, but upkeep makes this a cautious pick.
Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront is an aging 3-star hotel whose strongest selling point is its quieter North End beach, away from the main boardwalk bustle. It’s a conditional pick for travelers who prioritize sand and ocean views over polished interiors. Recent Expedia guests often praise spacious rooms, helpful staff and easy beach access; the hotel also offers indoor and seasonal outdoor pools, a hot tub and the Surf Club Ocean Grille.
The catch is inconsistent upkeep, not simply old-fashioned decor. Tripadvisor’s summer and September 2026 reviews repeatedly describe worn carpets, bathroom maintenance problems and disappointing cleaning, although other guests report clean, comfortable stays. Expedia is considerably more positive, so experiences clearly vary. Confirm an oceanfront room rather than assuming every room faces the water, and account for the resort fee. We’d skip it if reliable housekeeping or freshly maintained facilities matter most.

Best for: travelers prioritizing a quieter beach; ocean-view seekers comfortable with dated interiors
Watch out for: uneven cleaning and room maintenance; not every room is oceanfront; away from the main boardwalk bustle
Location: Direct North End beach access; quieter surroundings rather than a central boardwalk location.
Rooms: Spacious rooms earn praise, but dated furnishings and bathroom maintenance complaints recur.
Cleanliness: Mixed: many Expedia guests report clean rooms; recent Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe shortcomings.
Service: Friendly staff receive frequent praise, but housekeeping and problem handling are inconsistent.
Amenities: Indoor and seasonal outdoor pools, hot tub, fitness center and Surf Club Ocean Grille.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly resort fee; dogs incur an extra charge and require designated rooms.
