#7 of 9 hotels in Tulum Town by Axel's take. Tulum Town is #1 of 7 places to stay in Tulum. The best hotels in Tulum Town, ranked · Where to stay in Tulum
Axel's take: 8.0/10
A good-value town base with roomy accommodation, but some uneven basics a simple mid-range downtown hotel with a courtyard pool, scored for what it is.
Kaab is a simple mid-range downtown hotel, now marketed by OYO as Collection O Kaab Downtown Tulum. We'd pick it for exploring town rather than a beach holiday: restaurants and shops are walkable, and the courtyard pool gives you somewhere pleasant to unwind. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, generous room sizes and generally good cleanliness. For travelers who want space and a pool without resort expectations, it's good value.
The trade-offs are practical rather than glamorous. Recent Booking.com reviews mention unreliable shower water, limited breakfast choices and occasional maintenance shortcomings. Staff earn plenty of praise, but less helpful reception encounters recur too, including on Tripadvisor. There's no elevator, and reaching the beach requires transport. We'd skip it if dependable plumbing, effortless service or beach access matter more than room size and downtown convenience.
-
