Axel's take: 8.7/10
A strong beach-first pick, especially with a bay-view balcony. A comfortable 3-star beachfront hotel on East Grand Traverse Bay, scored for what it is.
Baywatch is a comfortable 3-star beachfront hotel, not a full-service resort, and it's a strong pick for a relaxed Traverse City break. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable king beds and friendly staff; recent summer reviews reinforce that picture. The private sandy beach is the main attraction. We'd choose a bay-view balcony over a non-view room to make the most of staying here.
The trade-offs are worth knowing: downtown is about a ten-minute drive, petite rooms are compact, and several Tripadvisor guests flag sound carrying between rooms or from the lounge. Older complaints target boxed breakfasts, but the hotel now advertises a continental buffet. There's also a daily resort charge despite amenities being described as complimentary. We'd skip it for downtown walkability or reliably quiet nights.
