Axel's take: 8.6/10
A strong pick for clean, comfortable basics, with compact rooms and a driving-first location. A modern, no-frills hotel on US-31, scored for what it is.
Avid is a modern, no-frills hotel on US-31, and we'd pick it for a comfortable base rather than a resort-style stay. Opened in 2024, it earns consistent praise on Tripadvisor and Expedia for cleanliness, comfortable beds and friendly staff; Booking.com's cleanliness scores back that up. Free breakfast, parking and round-the-clock coffee make it good bang for your buck, while the indoor pool and gym add useful extras.
The compromises are mostly about space and setting. Rooms are compact, the pool is small and there's no hot tub. Downtown is a drive away, though the TART trail runs behind the hotel. Some recent guests report hallway or neighboring-room noise, so request a quieter room away from entrances. We'd skip it if you want spacious lounging quarters or downtown on your doorstep.
