Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong longer-stay base, if you don't mind the walk from Shibuya. a practical 3-star apartment-style hotel near Shinsen, scored for what it is.

Tokyu Stay Shibuya is a practical 3-star apartment-style hotel, and we'd shortlist it for longer Tokyo stays. In-room washer-dryers, microwaves and kitchenettes make everyday travel easier. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and a quieter setting away from Shibuya's busiest streets. It's comfort and independence rather than luxury.

The main compromise is the hilly walk: allow roughly 10–15 minutes from JR Shibuya, with Shinsen station much closer. Housekeeping is deliberately limited, with towel changes and trash collection on request rather than daily full cleaning. We'd skip it if station-door convenience or daily bed-making matters most. Also confirm breakfast before booking: the hotel has announced a replacement service, but its Japanese and English notices disagree on timing.

• Best for: longer Tokyo stays; travelers packing light; couples comfortable with some walking

• Watch out for: hilly walk from JR Shibuya; limited housekeeping; changing breakfast arrangements

• Location: Three minutes from Shinsen; roughly 10–15 minutes from JR Shibuya, with hills along the way.

• Rooms: Standard doubles start at 20 m²; washer-dryers, microwaves and kitchenettes add useful independence.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback: Booking.com rates cleanliness 9.0, while recent Expedia guests also praise clean rooms.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a consistent strength across Expedia and Trip.com reviews.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, a rooftop terrace and in-room laundry are practical strengths; confirm current breakfast options.

• Fees and surprises: Full cleaning is weekly for stays of seven nights or more; lighter service requires a door sign.
