Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong neighborhood base for longer stays, with useful rooms rather than polished interiors. A practical 3-star extended-stay hotel in a quiet Tokyo neighborhood, scored for what it is.

Tokyu Stay Meguro Yutenji is a practical 3-star hotel that makes particular sense for longer Tokyo visits. It's about three minutes from Yutenji Station, with neighborhood restaurants, grocery shopping and straightforward access to Shibuya. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the quiet setting and helpful staff; cleanliness feedback is broadly positive. We'd choose a Comfort Double or Superior Twin for the kitchenette and washer-dryer, rather than assume every room includes them.

The trade-off is polish: recent guests mention aging furnishings and worn or stained carpets, although many still find the rooms comfortable and usefully sized. Housekeeping is deliberately limited: towel changes and rubbish collection are on request, with full cleaning weekly for stays of seven nights or more. There's no on-site restaurant. It's a strong pick for independent travelers; skip it if you want daily full housekeeping or nightlife outside the door.

• Best for: Longer stays with laundry and light cooking; Travelers who prefer a quiet local neighborhood; Independent visitors exploring western Tokyo

• Watch out for: Kitchenettes and washer-dryers depend on room type; Limited housekeeping rather than daily full cleaning; Dated furnishings and some carpet wear

• Location: About three minutes from Yutenji Station, near local restaurants and groceries, with easy train access to Shibuya.

• Rooms: Practical 18–25 m² layouts; Comfort Doubles and Superior Twins list kitchenettes and washer-dryers, but interiors show some age.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive guest feedback, tempered by some recent reports of stained carpets and occasional bathroom odors.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming front-desk staff are a recurring strength across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception and selected self-catering rooms; no on-site restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Full cleaning is weekly for stays of seven nights or more; early check-in and late checkout may cost extra.
