Axel's take: 8.5/10

A dependable Shinjuku base with excellent staff, though not right beside the main station. a large, full-service upscale hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku, scored for what it is.

Hilton Tokyo is a large, full-service upscale hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku, and a strong pick if helpful staff and comfortable rooms matter more than boutique character. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise housekeeping, beds and attentive service; Booking.com’s ratings reinforce that picture. The indoor pool, gym and substantial breakfast buffet make it a practical base for longer stays, while the underground Metro connection and complimentary Shinjuku station shuttle help with getting around.

The compromise is location: expect roughly a 10–15-minute walk to Shinjuku’s main station area rather than nightlife immediately outside. Before booking, check the works schedule: the hotel currently posts a June–October room-upgrade and basement-plumbing notice, plus a lobby-renovation notice. Breakfast and parking can cost extra. We’d skip it for an intimate atmosphere or the shortest possible station walk.

• Best for: business travelers; families wanting full-service facilities; longer stays with room to unwind

• Watch out for: 10–15-minute walk to the main Shinjuku station area; posted room, plumbing and lobby renovation notices; breakfast and parking may cost extra

• Location: Nishi-Shinjuku setting with an underground Metro connection and free station shuttle.

• Rooms: Guests commonly praise comfortable beds and room size; confirm the category and renovation status.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and aggregate category ratings.

• Service: Helpful reception, bell staff and breakfast teams receive repeated praise.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, sauna, rooftop tennis, restaurants and an executive lounge.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and self-parking are chargeable; ask whether the posted renovation works affect your dates.
