A strong Shinjuku base for extra space and self-catering, rather than hotel polish. a practical mid-range apartment hotel on Shinjuku’s quieter side, scored for what it is.

Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo is a practical mid-range apartment hotel, and a strong pick for travelers who value space over style. Studios start at 25 square meters and include kitchenettes, making longer stays easier. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and rooms that feel generous by Tokyo standards. The quieter neighborhood has restaurants and convenience stores nearby, with Shinjuku Gyoenmae subway station a short walk away.

The compromise is convenience versus atmosphere: you’re outside Shinjuku’s busiest core, and the main Shinjuku station is a longer walk. Several recent guests describe the interiors and bathrooms as dated, while breakfast draws mixed feedback. A gym and shared laundry add practical value, but this isn’t a full-service luxury stay. We’d choose it for a week in Tokyo; skip it if contemporary design or immediate access to the main station matters most.

• Best for: longer stays and self-catering; couples wanting more room; travelers preferring quieter surroundings

• Watch out for: longer walk to main Shinjuku station; dated interiors and bathrooms; mixed breakfast feedback

• Location: Quieter Shinjuku setting near restaurants and Shinjuku Gyoenmae subway, rather than the main station.

• Rooms: Studios start at 25 square meters with kitchenettes; spacious and functional, but not consistently modern.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Helpful, English-speaking staff attract consistent praise; reception operates around the clock.

• Amenities: Gym, residents’ lounge, shared coin laundry and breakfast available.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra and requires advance reservation; vehicle-size restrictions apply.
