Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong city-break base, with comfortable rooms but some practical caveats. a design-led mid-range city hotel near Rothschild Boulevard, scored for what it is.

NYX Tel Aviv is a design-led mid-range city hotel, not a beachfront retreat. It's a strong pick for exploring around Rothschild Boulevard: the playful interiors have personality, and Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Breakfast is another consistent strength. We'd choose it for a food-and-nightlife weekend rather than a beach holiday.

The trade-offs are worth checking before booking. Some Tripadvisor and Expedia guests report disruptive outside noise, while recent service complaints show that problem-solving is less consistent than the warmest reviews suggest. Crucially, Fattal currently warns that some facilities are temporarily unavailable without identifying which; confirm the rooftop, gym and sauna directly if those matter. There's no hotel parking, and breakfast inclusion depends on your booking. Light sleepers and travelers wanting a full-service resort should look elsewhere.

• Best for: couples on a city break; food and nightlife explorers; business travelers using nearby light rail

• Watch out for: unspecified temporary facility restrictions; outside noise in some rooms; no on-site parking

• Location: Near Rothschild Boulevard and Carlebach light rail; inland rather than beside the beach.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive decor; entry-level Superior rooms are 21 square meters.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia, despite occasional complaints.

• Service: Often praised as friendly, but some recent guests report slow check-in or unhelpful complaint handling.

• Amenities: Rooftop, gym and dry sauna are advertised; Fattal warns that some facilities are temporarily unavailable.

• Fees and surprises: Nearby public parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusion and Saturday or holiday arrival arrangements.
