Axel's take: 7.8/10

A worthwhile rooftop-pool pick, provided you accept the industrial surroundings and uneven upkeep. a modern boutique business hotel in Tel Aviv’s Montefiore neighborhood, scored for what it is.

Jo Hotel, also called Jo Shtibel, is a modern boutique business hotel in Montefiore, rather than a full-service luxury stay. We’d consider it for the rooftop pool and skyline views, comfortable beds and generally welcoming staff. Booking.com guests are broadly positive about cleanliness and comfort, and recent reviews across platforms keep praising the team. Nearby light-rail connections make it a practical city base.

The trade-offs are real: the surrounding streets have car workshops and an industrial feel, and this isn’t a beach location. Recent guests repeatedly flag maintenance or air-conditioning problems, although many report clean, comfortable rooms. The rooftop also hosts events, with some complaints about loud music and unruly pool behavior. We’d skip it for a reliably quiet retreat or polished luxury service; it makes more sense for a short urban stay with pool time.

• Best for: short city breaks with pool time; business travelers using nearby transit; couples comfortable staying away from the beach

• Watch out for: industrial surroundings, away from the beach; uneven maintenance and air-conditioning reports; rooftop events and occasional loud pool music

• Location: Montefiore base near Yehudit light rail and Sarona; the immediate streets divide opinion.

• Rooms: Modern rooms and comfortable beds earn praise, but recent guests report recurring repair and cooling issues.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive across the larger review pools, with exceptions rather than a dominant cleanliness problem.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; problem resolution is less consistent.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, breakfast and business spaces; check pool hours and the event schedule before booking.

• Fees and surprises: No on-site parking; nearby paid lots are listed by the hotel, and breakfast inclusion depends on your booking.
