Axel's take: 8.5/10

A stylish neighborhood base with strong breakfasts, but a few luxury-level compromises. a luxury boutique hotel in historic Neve Tzedek, scored for what it is.

Elkonin is a luxury boutique hotel combining a historic building with a modern glass tower in Neve Tzedek. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want restaurants, markets and neighborhood character rather than a beachfront resort. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the design, cleanliness and breakfast, while Booking.com’s ratings reinforce the excellent location. The rooftop pool and Clarins spa give this small hotel more appeal than just its address.

The compromises matter at this level: entry rooms are compact, rooftop loungers can fill up, and some guests report nighttime noise or uneven service. Saturday breakfast differs under the hotel’s kosher arrangements, including no freshly prepared egg dishes. We’d choose it for a couples’ city break, but skip it if spacious rooms, guaranteed poolside lounging or beachfront access are priorities.

• Best for: couples on a city break; design-minded travelers; exploring Neve Tzedek on foot

• Watch out for: compact entry rooms and some nighttime noise; limited rooftop loungers at busy times; different breakfast offering on Saturdays

• Location: Near Rothschild Boulevard, restaurants and markets; the beach is a walk away, not on-site.

• Rooms: Stylish historic-building and tower options; Superior rooms measure 20–23 square meters.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength in Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Mostly warm and helpful, with some lapses in responsiveness and dining service.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, Clarins spa, hammam and fitness center; more boutique than resort.

• Fees and surprises: Nearby public parking and spa treatments cost extra; confirm breakfast inclusion and pool hours.
