Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong beachfront choice, with standout breakfasts and staff rather than flawless luxury. a full-service five-star beachfront hotel beside Tel Aviv’s marina, scored for what it is.

The Carlton is a full-service five-star beside Tel Aviv’s marina, and it’s a strong pick for a comfortable beach-and-city stay. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and generous breakfast overlooking the water. The rooftop pool adds another compelling sea view. We’d choose it for those dependable pleasures rather than expect every corner to feel like cutting-edge luxury.

Choose your room category carefully: a city-view balcony is not a full Mediterranean outlook. Breakfast can be a substantial extra unless included, and parking is paid and offsite. Crucially, the hotel says rooftop swimming is unavailable during winter months, so confirm dates if the pool matters. We’d skip it for a winter swimming break or if you want an intimate boutique hotel.

• Best for: couples wanting beach and city time; travelers who prioritize helpful service; sea-view breakfast enthusiasts

• Watch out for: rooftop swimming unavailable in winter; breakfast may cost extra; paid offsite parking

• Location: Beside the marina and promenade, within easy walking distance of Gordon and Hilton beaches.

• Rooms: Comfortable balcony rooms; book the specific sea-view category rather than assume every room overlooks the water.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest ratings, with recent reviews praising clean rooms.

• Service: Warm, accommodating staff are among the most consistent reasons guests recommend returning.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, jacuzzi, gym and spa facilities; the official site rules out winter swimming.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; offsite parking and airport transfers carry additional charges.
