#9 of 9 hotels in Dadaocheng by Axel's take. Dadaocheng is #6 of 9 places to stay in Taipei. The best hotels in Dadaocheng, ranked · Where to stay in Taipei

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Helpful staff and handy transport links, but cramped rooms limit the appeal. a no-frills budget hotel in Taipei's Datong district, scored for what it is.

The Dealer is a no-frills budget hotel in Datong, worth considering if location and helpful staff matter more than room space. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the reception team and easy access to Beimen, airport trains and neighborhood restaurants. Booking.com's overall feedback is broadly positive, particularly for service. We'd choose it as a practical sightseeing base rather than somewhere to spend much downtime.

The compromises are real: recent guests describe small, aging rooms, tiny bathtubs and noise from neighboring rooms or the road. Some also report limited air-conditioning control. Cleanliness feedback is generally favorable, though not unanimous. Expedia lists check-in from 5 p.m., so confirm your booking's terms before arriving early. We'd skip it if you're a light sleeper, need luggage-spreading space or expect a polished three-star experience.

  • Best for: budget-minded sightseeing trips; travelers using airport trains; Datong food and neighborhood exploring

  • Watch out for: small rooms and tiny bathtubs; limited soundproofing; check-in generally starts at 5 p.m.

  • Location: Walkable access to Beimen, airport trains, Dihua Street and Ningxia Night Market.

  • Rooms: Basic and aging; compact layouts, small tubs and air-conditioning control draw complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, but occasional housekeeping complaints prevent a stronger endorsement.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the most consistent strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, an elevator, luggage storage and lobby drinks cover the practical basics.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusions and arrival time; Expedia lists breakfast and early check-in as extra.
