#3 of 9 hotels in Songshan & Nanjing East Road by Axel's take. Songshan & Nanjing East Road is #5 of 9 places to stay in Taipei. The best hotels in Songshan & Nanjing East Road, ranked · Where to stay in Taipei
Axel's take: 8.9/10
A strong Taipei base for spacious rooms, attentive service and an excellent breakfast. a Japanese-run 5-star city hotel beside Nanjing Fuxing MRT, scored for what it is.
This Japanese-run 5-star city hotel is a strong pick for travelers who put comfort and transport ahead of boutique character. It belongs to JR East’s hotel family, not Westin. Recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms, helpful staff and the extensive Asian-and-Western breakfast buffet. Entry-level rooms start at 36 square meters, and Nanjing Fuxing MRT is just across the street. We'd choose it for a comfortable business trip or a family sightseeing base.
The trade-offs are mostly practical: the indoor pool requires advance reservations and closes for daily cleaning, while the sauna is restricted to guests aged 17 and older. Breakfast is not included in every booking. We'd skip it if spontaneous pool time or an intimate, design-led atmosphere matters more than room space and easy city connections.
-
Best for: business travelers using the MRT; families wanting spacious or connecting rooms; travelers who prioritize breakfast and service
-
Watch out for: advance reservations required for the pool; sauna restricted to ages 17 and older; breakfast inclusion varies by booking
-
Location: Across from Nanjing Fuxing MRT, with access to two lines; a practical base for exploring Taipei.
-
Rooms: Entry-level rooms start at 36 square meters; guests consistently praise space, comfortable beds and generous bathrooms.
-
Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent reviews, supported by strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness ratings.
-
Service: Helpful, courteous staff earn widespread praise; isolated check-in communication complaints do not define the overall picture.
-
Amenities: Indoor heated pool, gym, spa and several restaurants; HAYASE lists full-day closures on November 9, 16 and 23, 2026.
-
Fees and surprises: Breakfast and airport transfers can cost extra; Expedia lists a deposit, and disposable personal-care items are not supplied in rooms.
