#5 of 9 hotels in Dadaocheng by Axel's take. Dadaocheng is #6 of 9 places to stay in Taipei. The best hotels in Dadaocheng, ranked · Where to stay in Taipei
Axel's take: 8.1/10
A clean, convenient Taipei base, provided you can live with thin walls. a no-frills mid-range hotel near Taipei’s airport MRT, scored for what it is.
City Suites Main Station is a no-frills mid-range hotel whose strongest selling point is easy transport access. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want a clean, comfortable base rather than somewhere to spend the afternoon. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the location near the airport MRT, with Dihua Street and Ningxia Night Market within walking distance. Compact rooms and limited extras fit that practical brief well.
The main compromise is soundproofing: traffic and neighboring-room noise recur across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com reviews. Standard rooms are sold without windows, so choose carefully if daylight matters. Trip.com guests also reported construction around station approaches in spring 2026; check your walking route before arrival. We’d skip it for light sleepers or anyone wanting spacious rooms and full-service facilities.
-
Best for: transit-focused city breaks; solo travelers and couples; travelers prioritizing cleanliness over extras
-
Watch out for: traffic and neighboring-room noise; windowless standard rooms; station-access construction reported in spring 2026
-
Location: Convenient for the airport MRT and old Taipei; reaching other platforms inside Main Station takes longer.
-
Rooms: Compact and functional, with comfortable beds frequently praised; standard categories have no windows.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Trip.com reviews.
-
Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with positive feedback on front-desk staff and housekeeping.
-
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, in-room refrigerators, luggage storage and a 24-hour front desk; no onsite parking.
-
Fees and surprises: Bring disposable personal-care items; Expedia lists check-in from 3 p.m. and checkout before 11 a.m.
