Axel's take: 8.3/10

A comfortable airport stopover with standout breakfast, but check refurbishment and transfer arrangements. an upscale, full-service airport hotel in Mascot, scored for what it is.

Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport is an upscale, full-service airport hotel that gets the stopover essentials right. We'd pick it for comfortable beds, generally clean rooms and helpful reception staff—not for a luxury escape. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the breakfast, while Mascot station, roughly five minutes' walk away, makes trips into central Sydney practical. The former Holiday Inn's rooms underwent a major refurbishment in 2022.

The main caveat is further refurbishment: an Expedia guest still reported work in September 2026, so confirm the current scope before booking. Airport transfers and parking cost extra, and Tripadvisor guests describe some awkward shuttle arrangements; reserve ahead rather than assuming an immediate pickup. There's no pool, either. It's a strong choice before an early flight, but we'd stay centrally for a sightseeing-focused holiday.

• Best for: overnight airport stopovers; business travelers; travelers wanting breakfast and rail access

• Watch out for: refurbishment reported in September 2026; paid airport shuttle requiring advance arrangements; no swimming pool

• Location: About five minutes' walk from Mascot station; airport terminals require a transfer.

• Rooms: Refurbished rooms draw praise for comfortable beds and good space; this is practical upscale comfort.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, supported by Booking.com's 8.9 cleanliness rating.

• Service: Friendly, helpful hotel staff are a consistent strength; shuttle experiences are less consistent.

• Amenities: Gym, free Wi-Fi, breakfast restaurant and Biggles Bar and Grill; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and airport shuttle are charged; check breakfast inclusion and the current refurbishment scope.
