#4 of 9 hotels in Uptown & San Marco Avenue by Axel's take. Uptown & San Marco Avenue is #2 of 6 places to stay in St. Augustine. The best hotels in Uptown & San Marco Avenue, ranked · Where to stay in St. Augustine

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A good-value sightseeing base, with helpful staff but cramped, paid parking. a simple 2-star motor inn north of St. Augustine’s historic center, scored for what it is.

This simple 2-star motor inn is a good-value base north of St. Augustine’s historic center, rather than a hotel in the heart of it. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable rooms and included breakfast. Expedia lists a 2024 remodel, and recent guests often appreciate the updated bathrooms. An outdoor pool and in-room microwaves and refrigerators add practical comforts.

The main catch is parking: the hotel confirms a nightly charge, and guests repeatedly describe a cramped lot. Cleaning earns mostly positive feedback, although several recent Expedia guests mention dirty showers or debris on floors. Breakfast is useful rather than special, with mixed reports about variety. It’s a strong pick for budget-conscious sightseeing; we’d skip it if you want downtown immediately outside your door or consistently meticulous housekeeping.

  • Best for: budget-conscious sightseers; families wanting breakfast included; travelers comfortable staying outside downtown

  • Watch out for: cramped parking with a nightly charge; occasional housekeeping misses; not in the historic center

  • Location: North of the historic center, near the Fountain of Youth; central sights require a longer walk or short ride.

  • Rooms: Practical rooms with microwaves and refrigerators; Expedia lists a 2024 remodel.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated, but several recent guests flag shower and floor-cleaning misses.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

  • Amenities: Included breakfast, outdoor pool, hot tub and guest laundry; no fitness center.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is charged nightly despite the catalog’s free-parking claim; no elevator, and pet fees apply.
