Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong downtown choice for comfortable rooms, with extra charges worth checking. An upscale, safari-themed downtown tower hotel, scored for what it is.

The Davenport Tower is an upscale, safari-themed downtown hotel—not the historic Davenport across the street. It’s a strong pick for a comfortable Spokane base: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Marriott describes the rooms as redesigned, and the location puts restaurants, theaters and shopping within easy walking distance. An indoor pool, hot tub and gym round out a solid full-service offering.

The main drawback is the extras: Expedia lists a nightly destination fee, parking costs extra, and breakfast isn’t automatically included. Service earns strong praise overall, though some recent guests report unhelpful problem handling or billing confusion; confirm parking arrangements at check-in. We’d choose it for a downtown weekend or work trip, but skip it if you want historic character or fewer add-on charges.

• Best for: Downtown weekend breaks; Business travelers; Travelers who prioritize comfortable beds

• Watch out for: Nightly destination fee and paid parking; Occasional billing and problem-resolution complaints; Not the historic Davenport

• Location: Central downtown base within walking distance of restaurants, theaters, shopping and Riverfront Park.

• Rooms: Redesigned rooms; guests frequently praise their spaciousness and comfortable beds.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, particularly on Expedia; isolated bathroom and housekeeping complaints remain.

• Service: Staff friendliness is a recurring strength, with occasional complaints about resolving problems.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, hot tub, gym and dining; spa services are at a sister property, and there is no airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly destination fee; parking, breakfast and dog stays carry additional charges.
