Axel's take: 8.3/10

Historic character and excellent fitness facilities make this a strong downtown pick. a historic mid-range hotel inside a downtown private athletic club, scored for what it is.

Spokane Club is a historic mid-range hotel inside a working private athletic club, with rooms available to the public. It's a strong pick if you'll use the facilities: hotel guests get a proper lap pool, extensive gym, indoor courts, sauna and steam room rather than the usual token fitness room. Recent Expedia and Agoda guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, cleanliness and the walkable downtown location.

The trade-off is less consistency in the rooms: the hotel advertises renovated categories, but guest feedback still flags smaller layouts and occasional maintenance shortcomings. We'd choose the room category carefully rather than expect uniform modern comfort. Parking costs extra and finding the correct garage can be confusing; restaurant hours also vary considerably. Skip it if spacious, uniformly contemporary rooms and effortless parking matter more than character and club access.

• Best for: swimmers and fitness-focused travelers; downtown sightseeing and theater trips; travelers who enjoy historic hotels

• Watch out for: room size and condition vary; paid parking with confusing access; limited restaurant hours

• Location: Walkable downtown setting near shops, theaters, the cathedral and Riverfront Park.

• Rooms: Renovated categories are advertised; some guests still report compact layouts or maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength, supported by positive recent feedback and strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn consistent praise across recent Expedia and Agoda reviews.

• Amenities: Guest access includes a 25-yard lap pool, substantial gym, indoor courts, sauna and steam room; reserve a swim lane.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and early check-in cost extra; confirm garage directions, deposit terms and dining hours before arrival.
