Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong downtown base with standout staff, free parking and an uphill walk home. A well-kept, limited-service hotel on a hill above downtown Spokane, scored for what it is.

This is a simple, limited-service hotel that delivers unusually well on the basics. We'd pick it for clean, comfortable rooms, genuinely helpful staff and easy access to Riverfront Park, Spokane Arena and Gonzaga. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping, beds and breakfast, while Tripadvisor reviews reinforce the welcoming service. Included hot breakfast and parking make it good value for downtown visits; the patio and city views add something beyond the usual chain-hotel setup.

The hilltop setting is the main compromise: walking out is convenient, but returning means a climb. Some recent guests also mention street noise and nighttime sirens, so light sleepers should request a room away from traffic. There's no pool or on-site restaurant. We'd skip it if step-free neighborhood wandering or resort-style facilities matter more than dependable basics.

• Best for: Downtown event weekends; Gonzaga visits; Travelers wanting breakfast and parking included

• Watch out for: Uphill return walk; Street noise and nighttime sirens; No swimming pool

• Location: Near Riverfront Park and downtown venues, but perched above them on a hill.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, microwaves and refrigerators; selected rooms have balconies and city views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, including strong Booking.com cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff earn repeated praise across several sites.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, gym and patio; no pool, restaurant or airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: One free parking space per room, with limited on-site capacity; pets incur a nightly fee.
