Axel's take: 8.4/10

A dependable downtown base with helpful staff, free parking and a few sleep trade-offs. a practical 3-star downtown chain hotel with free parking, scored for what it is.

This is a practical 3-star chain hotel, and we'd put it on the shortlist for an uncomplicated Spokane stay. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff, while recent reviews generally like the included hot breakfast. Free on-site parking adds real value downtown, and the convention center and Riverfront Park are within walking distance. An indoor pool, hot tub and gym round out a useful package for families and business travelers.

The trade-off is ordinary chain-hotel character rather than anything distinctive. Some guests find the beds uncomfortable, and road noise can affect certain rooms; light sleepers should request a room away from traffic. Marriott also lists housekeeping every other day. We'd choose it for convenience and included basics, but skip it if plush beds, daily cleaning or boutique atmosphere matter most.

• Best for: convention and university visitors; families wanting breakfast and a pool; downtown visitors arriving by car

• Watch out for: road noise in some rooms; mixed opinions on bed comfort; housekeeping every other day

• Location: Walkable to the convention center and Riverfront Park, with dining nearby.

• Rooms: Straightforward chain rooms; generally comfortable, though some guests dislike the beds.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff draw repeated praise across sites.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, gym and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is complimentary; Marriott lists alternate-day housekeeping and no pets.
