Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong road-trip stop with welcoming staff, clean rooms and useful extras. A practical 3-star Marriott hotel just off I-90, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Fairfield is a strong pick for a practical Spokane Valley stay, especially with a car. Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and a breakfast with enough variety to satisfy families. It's not a destination hotel, but it delivers the basics well. Free parking, evening cookies and a courtyard putting green add value beyond the usual roadside essentials.

The main compromise is location: convenient freeway access rather than downtown sightseeing on foot. We'd skip it for a car-free city break. More importantly, Marriott currently posts an undated indoor-pool closure notice for annual maintenance. Confirm reopening directly before booking if swimming matters; don't rely on pool photos alone.

• Best for: Road-trippers; Families traveling by car; Spokane Valley business stays

• Watch out for: Undated pool-maintenance closure notice; confirm availability.; Better suited to driving than a walkable city break.; Dogs incur an additional fee.

• Location: Easy I-90 access; a practical driving base rather than a downtown address.

• Rooms: Guests generally find rooms spacious and comfortable; some suites have separate bedrooms.

• Cleanliness: Consistent praise across guest-review sites makes cleanliness a clear strength.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent highlight in recent reviews.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, gym and putting green; advertised indoor pool has a maintenance-closure notice.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; dogs cost extra, and the hotel does not provide an airport shuttle.
