Axel's take: 8.3/10

Generous suites and a great Old Town base, but the rooms need refreshing. An upper-midrange, all-suite Marriott in walkable Old Town, scored for what it is.

Scottsdale Marriott Old Town is an upper-midrange, all-suite hotel whose strongest assets are space and location. Separate living and sleeping areas make it practical for families or longer visits, with restaurants, galleries and shopping within easy walking distance. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff; recent Tripadvisor reviews largely reinforce those strengths. We'd pick it for a comfortable Old Town base rather than a resort-style escape.

The main compromise is aging rooms: calls for a refresh recur across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Reddit, despite generally strong comfort ratings. The heated outdoor pool and gym cover the basics, but breakfast draws mixed feedback. Parking costs extra, and destination-fee terms need checking for your booking. We'd skip it if contemporary interiors or polished luxury service matter more than suite space and walkability.

• Best for: Families wanting separate living space; Old Town visitors exploring on foot; Business travelers who prefer roomy suites

• Watch out for: Dated room decor and furnishings; Paid parking and destination-fee terms; Mixed breakfast feedback

• Location: Walkable access to Old Town dining, galleries, the Waterfront and Fashion Square.

• Rooms: Spacious two-room suites; comfortable beds earn praise, but dated furnishings are a recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia, despite occasional housekeeping complaints elsewhere.

• Service: Front-desk helpfulness is widely praised; dining service receives more mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, cabanas, fitness center, restaurant and on-site laundry; no airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is charged; listings show a destination fee, so verify its applicability and breakfast inclusion.
