Axel's take: 8.3/10

A dependable Talking Stick base, with friendly service and parking that costs extra. a practical 3-star chain hotel near Talking Stick Resort, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star Hampton is a strong pick for Talking Stick concerts, casino visits and Topgolf—not a resort stay. Expedia’s recent guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and helpful staff, while Booking.com guests also highlight the convenient location. Included hot breakfast, an outdoor pool and a gym cover the essentials well. We'd choose it for a straightforward entertainment weekend rather than a hotel-centered vacation.

The main catch is paid parking, an unwelcome extra for this kind of hotel. Some furnishings show wear, and breakfast feedback varies despite plenty of praise. Old Town is a drive away, so this isn't the best base for wandering Scottsdale on foot. Skip it if you want full-service dining, resort facilities or an Old Town doorstep.

• Best for: Talking Stick concert and casino visitors; Topgolf weekends; Families seeking breakfast included

• Watch out for: Daily parking charge; Some worn furnishings; Driving needed for Old Town

• Location: Walkable to Talking Stick Resort and Topgolf; convenient to Loop 101, but not Old Town.

• Rooms: Guests generally describe spacious, comfortable rooms; occasional reports of worn furniture.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia feedback and Booking.com category ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are among the most consistently praised features.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, outdoor pool and gym; not a full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking costs extra; pets incur a nonrefundable fee, and booking sites list an arrival deposit.
