Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong practical base if you drive, not a walkable historic Savannah stay. a simple, modern 3-star in Savannah’s car-oriented Midtown, scored for what it is.

Tru by Hilton Savannah Midtown is a simple, modern 3-star that makes a strong case for travelers with a car. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, welcoming staff and the included breakfast; Booking.com’s overall ratings reinforce those strengths. Free parking and WiFi help the value proposition, while the gym and lobby games cover the basics without pretending this is a full-service hotel.

The main compromise is location: nearby shopping and chain restaurants are convenient, but historic Savannah requires a drive rather than a stroll. Rooms favor efficient layouts over spreading out, with limited storage, and several recent Expedia guests note no in-room microwave. Pets incur a nonrefundable fee. We’d choose it for a short, practical visit and skip it for a spacious room or an atmospheric, car-free Savannah weekend.

• Best for: value-minded travelers with a car; short stays and road-trip stops; pet owners comfortable with a fee

• Watch out for: driving needed for historic Savannah; compact rooms and limited storage; no in-room microwave

• Location: Convenient for Midtown shopping and restaurants, but not a walkable base for the historic district.

• Rooms: Simple, efficient rooms with refrigerators; storage is limited and guests report no in-room microwave.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia, Tripadvisor and Trip.com feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff dominate recent feedback, despite occasional complaints about problem handling.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, WiFi and parking, plus a fitness center and lobby games.

• Fees and surprises: Hilton confirms a nonrefundable pet fee that increases for longer stays; no airport shuttle.
