Axel's take: 9.1/10

Perry Lane delivers genuine luxury through warm service, comfortable rooms and a walkable location. a contemporary 5-star hotel in Savannah’s Historic District, scored for what it is.

Perry Lane is a contemporary 5-star in Savannah’s Historic District, and it largely earns its luxury billing. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, spotless rooms and comfortable beds; the concierge and valet teams stand out particularly. We’d pick it for a polished city break with Savannah’s squares on foot and a rooftop pool for downtime.

The trade-offs are more about atmosphere and extras than broken basics. The public rooftop bar draws crowds, and wedding weekends can make shared spaces busy. A daily destination fee and separately charged valet parking also take some shine off the value. It’s a strong choice for couples who want a sociable luxury base; we’d look elsewhere for secluded, resort-style quiet or fewer added charges.

• Best for: couples on a luxury city break; exploring historic Savannah on foot; rooftop cocktails and pool downtime

• Watch out for: daily destination fee and paid valet parking; busy public rooftop bar; wedding-weekend crowds

• Location: Walkable Historic District base, away from the busiest bar streets but within reach of the river.

• Rooms: Stylish, comfortable rooms with well-appointed bathrooms; recent guests frequently praise the beds.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength: recent guests praise housekeeping, and Expedia rates cleanliness highly.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are the most consistent distinction, especially concierge and valet teams.

• Amenities: Year-round rooftop pool, fitness center, restaurant and bars; the destination package includes bikes and local car service.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee, separate valet charge and a nonrefundable pet fee; the rooftop bar also welcomes non-guests.
