Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable riverfront base, strongest on views and welcoming staff. a full-service 4-star convention hotel on Savannah’s riverfront, scored for what it is.

Marriott Savannah Riverfront is a large, full-service 4-star hotel at the eastern end of River Street. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want waterfront walks and familiar comforts rather than boutique character. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. A river-view room gives the stay its main distinction: watching cargo ships pass close by.

The trade-offs are the big-hotel atmosphere, some reports of tired finishes, and atrium noise that can carry into rooms at night. Parking and breakfast cost extra, so this isn’t an especially compelling choice if you won’t use the waterfront setting. The hotel confirms a seasonal outdoor pool—not an indoor one—plus a spa and gym. We’d skip it for an intimate historic stay; light sleepers should request a room away from atrium activity.

• Best for: couples wanting river views; conference travelers; sightseers comfortable walking downtown

• Watch out for: atrium bar noise reaching rooms; paid parking and breakfast; some tired finishes

• Location: Eastern River Street setting with waterfront walking access to shops and restaurants.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and spacious; book an explicit river-view category if the outlook matters.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with recent Expedia guests repeatedly praising clean rooms.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, despite occasional service lapses.

• Amenities: Seasonal outdoor pool, spa, 24-hour gym, dining and extensive meeting facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and breakfast cost extra; Marriott’s complimentary in-room Wi-Fi offer requires eligible direct booking.
