Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong airport stopover, with friendly staff and breakfast that costs extra. a practical 3-star airport hotel, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star airport hotel is a strong pick for a flight stopover or business trip, rather than a sightseeing weekend. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Free parking, a complimentary airport shuttle, an outdoor pool and a fitness center make it a useful all-rounder for its class. Hilton also offers shuttle service to Tanger Outlets and the Mighty Eighth Air Force museum.

The main compromise is location: downtown Savannah is 12 miles away, so this isn't a base for exploring the historic district on foot. Breakfast costs extra, and restaurant feedback is less consistent than praise for the rooms and front desk. Confirm shuttle hours directly before relying on an early departure or late pickup. We'd choose it for airport convenience; we'd stay downtown for a car-free Savannah visit.

• Best for: airport stopovers; business travelers; road-trippers with a car

• Watch out for: 12 miles from downtown; breakfast costs extra; confirm airport shuttle hours

• Location: Convenient for the airport and outlet shopping, but not walkable to historic Savannah.

• Rooms: Guests generally describe clean, comfortable rooms; some find the decor and technology dated.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise; restaurant service draws more mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, free Wi-Fi, free parking and complimentary airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and pets cost extra; Hilton advises calling for shuttle hours.
