Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong Midtown base with friendly staff, good breakfast and paid parking. A practical 3-star chain hotel in Savannah’s Midtown, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star Fairfield is a strong pick for travelers who want reliable comfort rather than a Historic District address. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff; breakfast earns particular enthusiasm, including on Tripadvisor. Marriott now describes the hotel as fully reimagined, though it gives no renovation date. Included breakfast, an outdoor saltwater pool and a gym make it a well-rounded base for families and hospital visits.

The compromises are location and a few room inconsistencies. Expect to drive or take a rideshare for downtown sightseeing, although shops and restaurants are nearby. The attached garage is convenient but costs extra, and guests mention tight spaces. Several recent Expedia reviewers also report musty room odors, despite otherwise strong cleanliness feedback. We’d skip it for a car-free historic Savannah weekend.

  • Best for: Families traveling with a car; Hospital visitors; Business travelers staying in Midtown

  • Watch out for: Paid garage parking with tight spaces; Some recent reports of musty rooms; Not a walkable base for historic downtown

  • Location: Near Midtown shopping, dining and hospitals; downtown sightseeing requires transportation.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise; Marriott advertises refreshed interiors, but some guests report musty odors.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across booking sites, with occasional room-level lapses.

  • Service: Friendly staff are a consistent strength, especially the breakfast team.

  • Amenities: Included breakfast, outdoor saltwater pool, 24-hour gym and guest laundry.

  • Fees and surprises: Garage parking carries a daily charge; oversized vehicles and trailers are restricted, and no shuttle is provided.
