Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown base with welcoming staff, but square-facing rooms can sacrifice sleep. An upscale 4-star boutique hotel on lively Ellis Square, scored for what it is.

Andaz Savannah is an upscale 4-star boutique hotel whose biggest asset is its Ellis Square address: City Market, restaurants and River Street are easy to explore on foot. We'd pick it for a sightseeing weekend with comfortable rooms and genuinely welcoming service. Recent Expedia and Booking.com feedback strongly favors the staff, cleanliness and location, while the outdoor pool terrace, firepit and 22 Square restaurant give it more appeal than a basic downtown base.

The real compromise is sleep. Across Tripadvisor and Reddit, guests describe late-night music and crowds around Ellis Square, particularly on weekends; provided sound machines and earplugs don't always solve it. Request a higher-floor room away from the square, rather than paying extra for that view. Factor in the destination fee and paid parking. We'd skip it if reliable quiet matters more than being in the middle of things.

• Best for: First-time Savannah visitors; Couples on sightseeing weekends; Travelers exploring without a car

• Watch out for: Late-night noise in Ellis Square-facing rooms; Destination fee and paid parking; Some guests report elevator noise

• Location: Excellent walking base beside City Market and close to River Street; nightlife brings noise.

• Rooms: Comfortable overall; request a room away from Ellis Square and the elevators.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness feedback on Expedia and Booking.com.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest accounts.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool terrace, firepit, fitness center and 22 Square restaurant and bar.

• Fees and surprises: Destination fee, parking and breakfast charges; an April 2026 guest reported neighboring construction, so confirm its status.
