#1 of 2 hotels in Longboat Key by Axel's take. Longboat Key is #6 of 6 places to stay in Sarasota. The best hotels in Longboat Key, ranked · Where to stay in Sarasota

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong beachfront pick if you choose your unit carefully. A simple beachfront condo resort with an old-school motel feel, scored for what it is.

Sea Club I is a small, simple condo resort on Longboat Key, not a full-service hotel. We'd choose it for easy beach days: kitchens, a heated outdoor pool and the Gulf just steps away make self-catering stays appealing. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful managers, cleanliness and beach access. For travelers who value sand over sophisticated interiors, it delivers well.

The catch is the individually owned accommodation: furnishings, mattress comfort and upkeep vary, with dated furniture and maintenance niggles recurring across sites. Check photos of the exact unit rather than relying on the general gallery. There’s no daily housekeeping or elevator, and late arrivals need advance arrangements. We'd skip it if you want consistently modern rooms, daily service or extensive resort facilities.

  • Best for: Couples seeking quiet beach days; Self-catering families; Travelers who prefer small properties

  • Watch out for: Variable furnishings and upkeep between units; No daily housekeeping or elevator; Arrange arrivals after office hours

  • Location: Directly on Longboat Key’s Gulf beach, with consistently strong guest praise for access.

  • Rooms: Studios, apartments and villas with kitchens; condition and comfort depend on the unit.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including recent reviews, despite occasional exceptions.

  • Service: Managers earn repeated praise for helpfulness and resolving problems; reception hours are limited.

  • Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, beach chairs, propane grills, guest laundry and complimentary Wi-Fi.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; Expedia lists a credit-card surcharge and a minimum check-in age of 25.
