Axel's take: 9.0/10

A polished beach escape with standout staff, but not directly on the sand. an upscale, circus-inspired boutique hotel across from Lido Beach, scored for what it is.

Cirque is an upscale boutique hotel across from Lido Beach, not the Holiday Inn still shown in some catalogs. Reopened under Opal in March 2025 after a major renovation, it earns our recommendation for fresh interiors, walkable dining at St. Armands Circle and unusually consistent praise for its staff. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Google guests repeatedly highlight cleanliness, friendly service and the playful circus-inspired design. Gulf-view rooms are the ones we'd favor.

The main compromise is beach logistics: the public beach is across the road, while included loungers and additional pools are at sister property Lido Beach Resort, reached on foot or by shuttle. A daily resort fee applies, and beach umbrellas cost extra. Some Tripadvisor guests also report slow restaurant service. It's a strong pick for couples wanting beach time and restaurants nearby; we'd skip it if direct beachfront access is essential.

  • Best for: couples on a beach getaway; travelers who like walkable dining; fans of distinctive hotel design

  • Watch out for: across the road, not directly beachfront; daily resort fee and extra-charge beach umbrellas; occasional slow restaurant service

  • Location: Across from Lido Beach and a short walk from St. Armands Circle; shuttle also serves the Circle.

  • Rooms: Renovated interiors with standard, city or Gulf views; confirm a balcony in the specific room category.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Google guest feedback.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff draw repeated praise; restaurant service is occasionally less consistent.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant and bars, plus shuttle access to Lido Beach Resort's beach and pools.

  • Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee includes two beach chairs per room at the sister resort; umbrellas and pets cost extra.
