Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong suburban base with standout staff, generous rooms and a well-liked breakfast. a refreshed 3-star hotel near I-75 and University Town Center, scored for what it is.

This refreshed 3-star is a strong pick for Lakewood Ranch business trips and family visits, rather than a Sarasota beach escape. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the clean, roomy accommodations, helpful front desk and breakfast that exceeds chain-hotel expectations. Rooms have sofa seating, and the included breakfast and free parking make it a practical, good-value base. A property-wide renovation finished in August 2026, updating mattresses, furnishings and shared spaces.

The main compromise is geography: shops and restaurants are nearby, but plan on driving to Sarasota’s beaches and downtown. Two May 2026 Tripadvisor reviewers reported hot-water failures and repeated overnight fire alarms; later reviews are largely positive, so those reports don’t appear to define the current experience. We’d choose it for comfortable suburban convenience, but skip it for beachfront atmosphere or a car-free vacation.

• Best for: Lakewood Ranch business travelers; families wanting extra room; drivers visiting local shops and restaurants

• Watch out for: Driving needed for beaches and downtown; Pet fees and weight restrictions; Hot-water and alarm complaints clustered in May 2026

• Location: Convenient to I-75 and University Town Center; a suburban base, not a beach location.

• Rooms: Sofa seating throughout; mattresses, furnishings and finishes refreshed in the 2026 renovation.

• Cleanliness: Strong ratings across sites, reinforced by positive September and October 2026 guest reports.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are among the most consistent sources of praise.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, heated outdoor pool, fitness center and lobby bar with food; not an indoor-pool hotel.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; dogs incur fees and restrictions. Renovation was completed in August 2026.
