#6 of 6 hotels in Lakewood Ranch & UTC by Axel's take. Lakewood Ranch & UTC is #5 of 6 places to stay in Sarasota. The best hotels in Lakewood Ranch & UTC, ranked · Where to stay in Sarasota

Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Lakewood Ranch base, but current renovations make it a qualified pick. a fitness-focused mid-range IHG hotel in Lakewood Ranch, scored for what it is.

This fitness-focused mid-range IHG hotel is a good fit for Lakewood Ranch business trips and sports weekends, rather than a Sarasota beach vacation. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally praise clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff, while the well-equipped gym gives the wellness theme some substance. Free parking adds practical value, and shopping and restaurants are nearby by car.

The biggest catch right now is renovation: the hotel advertises work through December 2026, generally from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with possible changes to amenities and outdoor areas. Recent guests still report pleasant stays, but some flag maintenance shortcomings; Tripadvisor feedback is less consistent on housekeeping and check-in. Breakfast is not automatically included. We'd choose it for a practical stay with a car, but skip it for uninterrupted poolside downtime or easy beach access.

  • Best for: Lakewood Ranch business travelers; sports-event visitors with a car; travelers who prioritize a proper gym

  • Watch out for: Renovations through December 2026; Some maintenance and service inconsistencies; Not a beach-area hotel

  • Location: Convenient for Lakewood Ranch, UTC shopping and I-75; better with a car than as a beach base.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and good room sizes earn praise, though some guests report maintenance shortcomings.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive across booking sites, with occasional housekeeping misses on Tripadvisor.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; check-in and problem handling receive some criticism.

  • Amenities: Well-equipped gym, outdoor pool and hot tub; confirm renovation impacts and current dining availability.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and Wi-Fi are free; breakfast generally costs extra, pets incur fees, and renovations may affect facilities.
