Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical, well-located budget base, provided you can live with very small rooms. a no-frills budget hotel near Shopping Frei Caneca, scored for what it is.

Slim Frei Caneca is a no-frills budget hotel whose strongest selling point is its location: handy for the Frei Caneca convention center, Rua Augusta and trips toward Paulista. Formerly ibis budget, it switched to Slaviero’s Slim brand in April 2026. We’d pick it for a short, busy city stay rather than time spent in the room. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the location, helpful staff and generally clean accommodation; the current official site includes breakfast.

The trade-off is space. Bedrooms and bathroom compartments are consistently described as tiny, with limited room for luggage or working comfortably. The breakfast room gets crowded, and several 2026 guests across sites report temporary hot-water failures. Paid parking adds another consideration. It’s good value for travelers prioritizing convenience, but we’d skip it for longer stays, substantial luggage or reliable in-room workspace.

• Best for: Frei Caneca convention attendees; budget-minded solo travelers; short city breaks

• Watch out for: very small rooms and bathrooms; crowded breakfast room; repeated reports of temporary hot-water failures

• Location: Convenient for Shopping Frei Caneca, its convention center and Rua Augusta; metro stations require a walk.

• Rooms: Basic, compact accommodation; limited luggage space and workspace are recurring complaints.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across booking sites, though individual housekeeping complaints occur.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff receive consistent praise; occasional follow-through problems are reported.

• Amenities: The official site lists complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars and pet-friendly accommodation.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; confirm pet charges. The property now operates as Slim, not ibis budget.
