Axel's take: 7.6/10

A useful hospital-district base, but uneven upkeep and closed leisure facilities limit its appeal. a practical 4-star business hotel in Bela Vista, scored for what it is.

Mercure São Paulo Bela Vista is a practical 4-star business hotel, strongest for hospital visits and straightforward city stays rather than a special occasion. Spacious rooms, nearby metro access and helpful staff make it a useful base. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests frequently praise comfort and breakfast, and overall ratings remain solid. We'd shortlist it if proximity to Beneficência Portuguesa or Oswaldo Cruz matters more than polished interiors.

The catch is consistency: recent Accor and Google reviews describe dated bathrooms, shower problems and maintenance that varies between rooms; some also flag weak Wi-Fi and noise. The hotel currently says its indoor pool and saunas are unavailable, with the pool closure listed through November 29, 2026. Breakfast can cost extra, and valet parking is charged. We'd skip it for a leisure-focused stay or if reliable work connectivity is essential.

• Best for: visitors to nearby hospitals; short business stays; travelers prioritizing room space

• Watch out for: pool and saunas temporarily unavailable; uneven bathroom maintenance; Wi-Fi and soundproofing complaints

• Location: Convenient for nearby hospitals; São Joaquim metro is roughly six minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Generously sized, but recent guests report variable upkeep, dated bathrooms and occasional noise.

• Cleanliness: Generally well rated, though recent bathroom and linen complaints show occasional lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; problem resolution is less consistent.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar and gym; indoor pool and saunas currently unavailable, with pool closure listed through November 29, 2026.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking costs extra; check whether breakfast is included in your booking.
