Axel's take: 7.9/10

Excellent staff and a useful Paulista location, but renovations currently compromise the luxury experience. a traditional five-star business hotel near Avenida Paulista, scored for what it is.

InterContinental São Paulo is a traditional five-star business hotel whose strongest assets are its staff and location, rather than cutting-edge interiors. A block from Avenida Paulista, it makes restaurants, shopping and MASP easy to reach. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful service, spacious rooms and breakfast; Booking.com guests also rate staff and location particularly highly. It's a strong pick for travelers who prioritize attentive hospitality and convenience over contemporary design.

The main reservation is the renovation now underway: the hotel's own website warns of construction noise and confirms the outdoor pool is temporarily closed. Expedia lists work through October 2027, subject to change. Recent guests also describe interiors needing a refresh. We'd skip it for a pool-focused break or an undisturbed luxury escape; otherwise, confirm the work affecting your dates before booking.

• Best for: business travelers near Paulista; museum and restaurant outings; travelers who prioritize attentive service

• Watch out for: ongoing renovation and possible construction noise; outdoor pool temporarily closed; dated interiors awaiting refurbishment

• Location: One block from Paulista, with MASP, restaurants and Trianon-MASP metro within walking distance.

• Rooms: Guests praise space and comfort, but several recent reviews say interiors need updating.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong guest feedback; worn finishes are a more consistent concern than housekeeping.

• Service: The clearest strength, with repeated praise for helpful reception, guest-relations and lounge teams.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar and fitness center; the outdoor pool is currently closed for construction.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking costs extra; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking. Confirm renovation impacts directly.
