Axel's take: 7.0/10

A practical downtown budget base, with cramped rooms and uneven upkeep. a no-frills 2-star hotel in downtown São Paulo, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star, not a full-service 3-star: Accor lists compact rooms with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. It's a reasonable pick for a short downtown trip if you prioritize location over space. Guest ratings are broadly good rather than outstanding, and recent Expedia guests praise the beds, showers and helpful staff. República metro and central shopping areas are convenient.

The compromises go beyond small rooms. Tripadvisor and Accor feedback repeatedly flags inconsistent cleaning and maintenance, alongside positive reports of clean stays; check-in delays also recur. Guests on several sites raise concerns about the surrounding streets, particularly at night, so we'd plan evening transport rather than casual wandering. Breakfast and parking generally cost extra. We'd skip it for a spacious family stay or if dependable housekeeping and relaxed evening walks are priorities.

• Best for: budget-conscious solo travelers; short downtown business trips; central shopping visits

• Watch out for: very compact rooms; uneven cleaning and maintenance; guest concerns about surrounding streets at night

• Location: Convenient for República metro and downtown shopping; guest reports advise caution outside, especially at night.

• Rooms: Accor lists 13-square-meter rooms; Superior rooms add a minibar and hairdryer, while the four-person bunk room has no TV.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean stays, but recent cross-site complaints about bedding, bathroom odors and mold make consistency a concern.

• Service: Helpful staff earn regular praise, although slow check-in and uneven problem handling recur in guest feedback.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a restaurant, convenience shop and paid on-site parking cover the budget essentials.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is optional and parking costs extra; confirm breakfast inclusion because guests report booking-channel discrepancies.
