Axel's take: 8.0/10

Good-value Liberdade convenience, provided you're comfortable with its love-motel setup. A budget adults-only hotel and love motel in Liberdade, scored for what it is.

Glória Plaza is a budget adults-only hotel that also operates as a Brazilian-style love motel—not a conventional three-star. It's a strong pick for couples who want Liberdade's restaurants, shops and metro within a short walk. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and included breakfast; complimentary parking adds to the value. The overall guest picture is positive, particularly for short stays.

The main compromise is the setup: the hotel's own website acknowledges its motel character, and guests report hourly bookings and noise from neighboring rooms. Several Booking.com reviewers also find the beds hard or small, so choose the room category carefully. There's no elevator, and some recent Expedia guests say their rooms didn't match the booking photos. We'd skip it for light sleepers, families or anyone needing step-free access.

• Best for: Couples comfortable with a love-motel setting; Budget-minded Liberdade visitors; Short stays near the metro

• Watch out for: Hourly bookings and neighboring-room noise; No elevator; Room categories and bed comfort vary

• Location: A short walk from Liberdade metro, neighborhood restaurants and shops.

• Rooms: Air-conditioned rooms; recurring comments about firm beds, with some smaller doubles.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised, though occasional recent housekeeping lapses appear on Expedia.

• Service: Helpful staff are a consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, bar and 24-hour reception; whirlpools in selected suites.

• Fees and surprises: Complimentary parking is listed; adults-only love-motel operation, no elevator, and some photo-to-room mismatches.
