Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong business base with standout breakfast, but renovation disruption needs checking. a comfortable mid-range business hotel in Vila Olímpia, scored for what it is.

Estanplaza Funchal is a comfortable mid-range business hotel in Vila Olímpia, opposite JK Iguatemi and handy for the area's offices. It's a strong pick for location, generously sized rooms and breakfast rather than cutting-edge design. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and substantial breakfast; the live pianist gets unusually frequent mentions.

The main catch is renovation work: Expedia currently lists the bar/lounge and dining areas as affected through October 31, 2026, with completion subject to change. Guests have reported construction noise, while older rooms also draw maintenance and dated-furnishing complaints. We'd request an updated room away from work and confirm breakfast arrangements before booking. It's a good fit for nearby meetings or shopping; we'd skip it for a reliably quiet stay until the work is confirmed finished.

• Best for: business travelers visiting Vila Olímpia; shoppers heading to JK Iguatemi; travelers who prioritize breakfast

• Watch out for: bar and dining-area renovations through October 31, 2026; construction noise and uneven room condition; paid valet parking and a listed service fee

• Location: Opposite JK Iguatemi, convenient for Vila Olímpia offices, restaurants and shopping.

• Rooms: Entry rooms are 27 square meters with desks and sofas; fittings and condition vary by category.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong across guest ratings, though construction-period complaints warrant a room check.

• Service: Helpful staff are a consistent strength across sites, despite occasional problem-handling complaints.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, gym and rooftop spa; confirm dining and bar arrangements during renovations.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists valet parking, pet and nightly service fees; renovation completion remains subject to change.
