#7 of 8 hotels in Goleta & Airport by Axel's take. Goleta & Airport is #6 of 6 places to stay in Santa Barbara. The best hotels in Goleta & Airport, ranked · Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Axel's take: 7.0/10

A practical Goleta stopover, with basic rooms and an impersonal check-in. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel in Goleta, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel in Goleta is a reasonable pick for a short UCSB or airport visit, rather than a Santa Barbara beach holiday. Recent Expedia guests regularly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and restaurants within walking distance. Free parking, free pet stays and an outdoor pool add useful extras for a budget motel. We'd consider it for a straightforward overnight, not a stay where the hotel is part of the attraction.

The compromises are small, sparsely furnished rooms and some reports of traffic, parking-lot or air-conditioning noise. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive lately, but not consistent across guests. Several recent reviewers describe checking in through a video kiosk, sometimes frustratingly, despite otherwise helpful service. Skip it if you want spacious rooms, a traditional staffed welcome or a walkable base for downtown Santa Barbara.

  • Best for: short UCSB or airport visits; road-trippers with pets; travelers needing a basic overnight

  • Watch out for: video-kiosk check-in; small rooms and occasional noise; not a downtown or beachfront location

  • Location: Off Highway 101 in Goleta, with shops and restaurants nearby; better suited to drivers.

  • Rooms: Compact and basic; some guests report noisy air conditioners or outside noise.

  • Cleanliness: Recent praise outweighs complaints, but housekeeping feedback is not uniformly positive.

  • Service: Staff often earn praise; video-kiosk check-in draws repeated frustration.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and coin laundry; no complimentary breakfast.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and pet stays are free; expect minimal in-room extras.
