#3 of 8 hotels in Goleta & Airport by Axel's take. Goleta & Airport is #6 of 6 places to stay in Santa Barbara. The best hotels in Goleta & Airport, ranked · Where to stay in Santa Barbara

Axel's take: 8.3/10

A dependable Goleta base with lovely grounds, useful extras, and some aging rooms. A simple, motel-style mid-range hotel in Goleta, scored for what it is.

This motel-style mid-range hotel in Goleta is a strong pick for UCSB visits and travelers exploring by car. Its landscaped courtyard gives it more appeal than the average roadside chain hotel, while included hot breakfast and free parking make it a practical choice. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the clean rooms, helpful staff, and attractive grounds. The pool and hot tub are welcome extras for families between outings.

The main compromise is room condition: recent feedback ranges from updated and comfortable to noticeably dated, so don't expect a uniformly fresh interior. This is neither beachfront nor downtown Santa Barbara; restaurants are walkable, but most sightseeing requires a drive. Winter swimmers should check ahead: Expedia lists a December 2–January 8 pool closure, despite the hotel's year-round pool description. We'd choose it for convenient, comfortable basics rather than a polished coastal getaway.

  • Best for: UCSB visitors; Families traveling by car; Road-trippers wanting breakfast and parking included

  • Watch out for: Uneven room freshness; Driving needed for beaches and downtown; Conflicting winter pool availability

  • Location: Goleta near shops and restaurants; convenient for UCSB and the airport, not beachfront.

  • Rooms: Motel-style exterior corridors; microwaves and refrigerators, with mixed reports on dated versus refreshed interiors.

  • Cleanliness: Broadly positive across recent guest feedback, despite occasional exceptions.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across review sites.

  • Amenities: Included hot breakfast, outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, laundry, and landscaped courtyard.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; early check-in may cost extra. Confirm winter pool access directly.
