Axel's take: 9.1/10

Excellent service and comfortable rooms make this mall-side Hyatt a strong upscale choice. a modern upscale Hyatt attached to a shopping mall, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Centric San Salvador is a modern upscale hotel in Antiguo Cuscatlán’s shopping district, and a strong pick for a comfortable, well-serviced city base. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff and the breakfast buffet. Salvadoran artwork gives it personality, while the outdoor pool, poolside bar and 24-hour gym round out an unusually dependable package for its class.

The main compromise is location: Las Cascadas is attached and other malls are nearby, but exploring the historic center means arranging transport and allowing for traffic. Some guests report nearby music or sound carrying between rooms, though complaints are sparse beside the praise. Check whether breakfast is included before booking. We’d skip it for a quiet retreat or a trip centered on walking through old San Salvador.

• Best for: business travelers; shoppers and restaurant-hoppers; families wanting upscale comfort

• Watch out for: transport needed for the historic center; occasional music and neighboring-room noise; breakfast not included with every booking

• Location: Attached to Las Cascadas in Antiguo Cuscatlán; convenient for malls, less so for historic-center sightseeing.

• Rooms: Modern, spacious and comfortable; some face the atrium rather than the city or mountains.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews, with especially high Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, attentive staff earn repeated praise across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool and poolside bar, 24-hour gym, restaurant and café; do not assume an indoor pool or spa.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; breakfast inclusion varies, and pets carry a cleaning fee.
