#6 of 8 hotels in Belén & Cariari by Axel's take. Belén & Cariari is #6 of 8 places to stay in San Jose, Costa Rica. The best hotels in Belén & Cariari, ranked · Where to stay in San Jose, Costa Rica

Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical airport stopover with a pleasant pool, but unreliable breakfast timing. A simple independent 3-star in Cariari, convenient for airport stopovers, scored for what it is.

Vista de Golf is a simple independent 3-star in residential Cariari, better suited to an airport stopover than exploring central San José. We'd consider it for a short, budget-conscious stay: Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise the clean rooms, convenient location and helpful staff. The pool and nearby restaurants add appeal beyond somewhere to sleep.

The compromises are dated rooms, repeatedly weak Wi-Fi and limited bathroom privacy in some rooms. Breakfast gets mixed reviews, and several guests report service starting too late for early flights. Don't count on lunch or dinner either: recent Booking.com and Expedia reviews describe the restaurant as unavailable beyond breakfast. It's a reasonable short-stay choice, but we'd skip it for dependable remote working, polished interiors or reliable all-day dining.

  • Best for: Budget-conscious airport stopovers; Short business stays in Cariari; Travelers wanting a pool between journeys

  • Watch out for: Weak in-room Wi-Fi; Late or inconsistent breakfast hours; Dated rooms and partial bathroom doors

  • Location: Residential Cariari, with restaurants nearby; SJO is roughly an 18-minute drive, traffic permitting.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned and basic; recent guests describe aging interiors and partial bathroom doors in some rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Generally a strength across Booking.com and Expedia, rather than a recurring complaint.

  • Service: Recent reviews mostly praise helpful staff, although breakfast arrangements draw complaints.

  • Amenities: Pool, gym and free parking; recent guests report limited restaurant operation, so confirm meal availability.

  • Fees and surprises: Check whether breakfast is included; early check-in and late checkout can cost extra, and arrivals after midnight require advance arrangements.
