They are very inflexible. I made a reservation more than two months in advance and asked them to move the reservation to an earlier date that was convenient for them, and they say they can't change the reservation.

Hotel Genio is a traditional four-star hotel whose strongest assets are outside the bedroom: Piazza Navona at the doorstep, a panoramic breakfast terrace and reception staff repeatedly praised for their help. It's a sensible sightseeing base for travelers who spend their days walking Rome and enjoy old-fashioned furnishings. The rooftop gives it something a basic central hotel often lacks.
The reservation is room consistency, not simply dated decor. Expedia's cleanliness scores are reassuring, but Tripadvisor's July–September 2026 reviews include two reports of mold, uncomfortable mattresses and maintenance failures; shower-temperature problems also appear on Expedia. The entrance is on Via Giuseppe Zanardelli at Piazza Navona's northern edge, rather than inside the pedestrian square. Restaurants line the surrounding streets, and buses stop outside.
