Hotels in RenoA large, mid-range casino hotel in Sparks
7.3/10
Good for Sparks events and pool time, less convincing for polished comfort.
Nugget is a large, mid-range casino hotel, not the polished luxury resort its four-star listing might suggest. It’s a good pick for Victorian Square events, gambling and an indoor pool between outings. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, spacious rooms and helpful staff; the atrium pool is another consistent highlight. Restaurants, an arcade and an airport shuttle make staying on-site convenient.
The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Although the hotel advertises renovated accommodations, Tripadvisor and Kayak guests still describe dated rooms, maintenance problems and inconsistent complaint handling. Recent Expedia feedback is substantially more positive, so this isn’t a uniformly poor property. Casino smoke matters, and separate August and September 2026 reviews on Kayak and Tripadvisor report bedbugs—guest allegations, not confirmation of a widespread infestation. Mandatory resort and other fees also complicate the value. We’d skip it for a smoke-free escape or reliably upscale service.

Best for: Victorian Square eventgoers; casino-focused weekend trips; travelers wanting an indoor pool
Watch out for: casino smoke; uneven maintenance and recent guest-reported bedbugs; mandatory resort and additional fees
Location: Convenient for Victorian Square and Sparks events, rather than downtown Reno.
Rooms: Often praised for space and comfortable beds, but dated finishes and maintenance complaints persist.
Cleanliness: Recent Expedia reviews are largely positive; Tripadvisor and Kayak include specific cleanliness and pest complaints.
Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, while problem resolution receives less consistent feedback.
Amenities: Indoor atrium pool, hot tub, gym, arcade, restaurants, casino and scheduled airport shuttle.
Fees and surprises: Mandatory resort, tourism and merchant fees plus a security deposit; self-parking is included in the resort fee.
