Axel's take

a basic 2-star roadside motel near Research Triangle Park

5.6/10

Convenient for Triangle Park, but inconsistent cleaning makes this a cautious budget choice.

This basic 2-star roadside motel near Research Triangle Park offers free parking, free Wi-Fi and a first-pet-stays-free policy. It's practical for drivers keeping costs down, but we'd treat it as a fallback rather than a dependable budget pick. Expedia's 5.8 and Booking.com's roughly 6.5 overall ratings reflect that uneven experience. Some recent guests praise friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms.

The bigger concern is consistency: 2026 reviews on Engine and Trip.com describe dirty bedding, unpleasant smells and neglected bathrooms, alongside positive stays. Nighttime noise also appears in guest feedback. Microwaves and refrigerators come only in selected room types, and there's no breakfast. Expect a refundable deposit and a nightly safe fee. We'd skip it if reliable cleanliness or quiet sleep matters more than keeping costs low.

Best for

  • budget-conscious drivers visiting Triangle Park
  • travelers bringing one pet

Watch out for

  • recurring cleaning and maintenance complaints
  • nighttime noise
  • fridge and microwave only in selected rooms
Location
Useful for Research Triangle Park by car; not a downtown Durham base.
Rooms
Basic rooms with uneven upkeep; confirm a fridge and microwave when booking.
Cleanliness
Positive reports coexist with repeated recent complaints about bedding, bathrooms and odors.
Service
Friendly staff earn praise, but problem handling is inconsistent.
Amenities
Free parking, Wi-Fi and lobby coffee; paid laundry, but no breakfast.
Fees and surprises
Refundable deposit and nightly safe fee; first pet free, second pet charged.
