Axel's take: 7.8/10

A good family beach option, but don't expect polished five-star luxury. a family-focused beachfront all-inclusive, more mid-range than five-star luxury, scored for what it is.

Tropical Deluxe Princess is a family-focused beachfront all-inclusive whose five-star label promises more polish than it consistently delivers. We'd choose it for the beach, wildlife-filled grounds and plentiful children's activities rather than luxury. Three pools, a children's water park and family suites with separate sleeping areas make it practical for parents. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the entertainment team and friendly staff, while overall ratings remain solid.

The trade-offs are uneven food and service, with some recent guests also reporting damp-smelling rooms and maintenance shortcomings. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, but not uniformly so. Book specialty restaurants early; reservations are required, and availability can be tight. Seaweed has affected recent beach stays, and premium restaurants and VIP services cost extra. We'd skip it for a food-led holiday or consistently attentive luxury service.

• Best for: families with young children; beach-and-pool vacations; travelers prioritizing activities over luxury

• Watch out for: uneven food and service; some damp rooms and maintenance complaints; seaweed can affect beach enjoyment

• Location: Direct beachfront setting in Bávaro, with extensive tropical grounds and internal resort transportation.

• Rooms: Spacious options include two-bedroom, two-bathroom family suites; some guests report dampness and maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised in recent reviews, though room deep-cleaning and shared-bathroom upkeep receive some criticism.

• Service: Entertainment staff earn repeated praise; restaurant service and problem resolution are less consistent.

• Amenities: Three pools, children's water park, kids' and teens' clubs, gym, sports facilities and nightly entertainment.

• Fees and surprises: Specialty dining requires reservations; La Cava, Mediterráneo, spa treatments and VIP services are extra.
